  • Week 1: My family Story

    My_Family_Story_1_.pdf

If we're going to be able to look at our story with clear vision, we must first pay attention to the characters in the story. This handout will give you a starting point to begin to learn about how your family (or origin, or your current family - your choice) has related to one another. We know that in Joseph's story, he was the main character and he experienced being an outcast in both his family of origin and in his new home. Use this handout to start considering your story.

This exercise could bring up some difficult or celebratory memories. Allow them to be - welcome them, offer them hospitality and a voice. By acknowledging these memories, we can free them from stopping up our emotional lives and controlling us. A Stephen Minister is available to listen if you need to talk in a confidential setting. And, if you need professional assistance to navigate a particularly difficult memory, please reach out to a therapist. A list (not vetted by us) is available here.

  • Week 2: Lifeline

Our lives have had many ups and downs, and some of them have brought us closer to God, while some of them have seemed like God was far away. Sometimes we can look back on those times when God seems far away and see evidence of Presence even when we didn't notice it at the time. Use this tool to look for those times when God felt closer.

  • WEEK 3: ASKING THE QUESTIONS

    Asking_the_Questions.pdf

Sometimes when we are deep in the pit, we get stuck there (or, like Joseph, go to something worse). This week we're taking a look at what we can learn from asking that most famous question of all - WHY?
